Fountains

Many times I am asked where my inspiration comes from.  That is a good question! Many people spend years asking those kinds of questions. I just am grateful when it does & scared it won’t come again!

The inspirations for my fountain design came from a dream. I was already making head pots and had thought that it might be cool to use the concept of water coming out of a mouth.  Technically I wasn’t sure how to make it work. After “seeing” it in a dream on three consecutive nights I was ready to go to work.

My fountains are made to withstand the outdoors, within reason. If you are entering hurricane season or freezing temperatures then it’s a good idea to bring them inside.  I keep mine nestled in some shrubs under a window.

Many folks purchase them to be used inside or on a patio or deck. An electrical outlet is the only thing necessary. The water recirculates so, no water supply is needed.

Large fountains are made up of four components. A stand, base, head and pump.  The small fountains are basically the same except that they don’t come with a stand.

Stands are available in heights of 12”, 21”,23”,26”,or 30”. They are either painted black or left natural. The natural stands will develop a rust look to them. They may be sanded and painted (rustoleum spray paint) at any time.

When choosing a stand height, take into consideration how close to the fountain you will be sitting. The closer the viewing the shorter the stand should be. Otherwise you will be mostly be looking at the underneath side.

The bowl or base of the fountain is aprox. 19-22” in dia. The large fountain bowls are made to sit in a stand the small fountains (12-14” dia.) Are flat bottomed & need to sit on a table.

The women (12"-14” tall on large fountains and 10-12” tall for small fountains) sit in the fountain bottom on top of the pump. The pump is an aquarium pump & MUST BE SUBMERGED IN WATER BEFORE BEING PLUGGED IN!! The plastic tube with the copper fitting on the end threads up from the bottom and fits in her mouth. There is a flow adjustment lever on each pump. I guarantee each pump for 6 months then I will replace them at cost.

Small Fountains

Small fountains are the perfect size for any patio, sun room or kitchen!  With their flat bottom they can sit on a table, counter or plant stand. Any of the large fountain designs may be made into small fountains,

As with all of my work these pieces are food safe.  Without the water they make great serving pieces!
